Gustave Paredis studied at the academy of Liège between 1910 and 1929.
First he underwent the influence of Richard Heinz and Auguste Donnay, to evolve mid thirties to a fauvism and synthetic cubism. He predominately painted figures, potraits, nudes and still lives.
He was a member of the group Art Moderne - Anthologie and Atelier in Liège.
He exhibited with Association pour le Progrès intellectuel et artistique de la Wallonie (APIAW) and the Cercle des Beaux Arts at Liège.
Work in the Musée de l’art Wallon in Liège, in which we find a similar still life. (fig. 2)
