The Fowler is an oil on canvas depicting a stylised figurative scene characteristic of the artist's pictorial language. The composition features a man wearing a hat, holding a cane and obviously going somewhere.
The bird perched on his hand marks his intentions, the book under his arm, merely an excuse. A nude female figure in the background holding the tail of his vest, as if she’s reading her mans mind. The scene unfolds within an architectural setting evoking an urban and maritime landscape. In the lefthand corner is a naked woman in a window holding a flower waiting to be plucked. Although difficult to date, the light palette and cubistic forms of the composition points to the late 20s or 30s.
On the back of the canvas is another painting representing a village.
